Everyone is welcome to enjoy Richmond Hill's recreational swimming opportunities. We also have a variety of swimming programs for all ages and lifesaving and leadership programs for teens.

Recreational Swimming Activities
Our recreational swim types include:
Fun 'N' Fit Swim 
This special program is a combination swim. It's the perfect time for parents to come and play with their children in the warm water of the small pool and for adults, seniors and children over the age of 10 to swim lengths in the main pool.
Lane Swim 

Open to any adult or youth (minimum 10 years of age) interested in swimming lengths for fitness. The pool is divided into slow, medium, and fast lanes and participants are asked to swim in a counter-clockwise loop. Children are not permitted.

Leisure Swim 

During this swim, all ages are welcome. Pools are set up to maximize recreational activities in a safe environment. Where indicated, waterslides will operate in 15-minute intervals.

Swim fins are not permitted during this swim unless there is a designated lane for swimming lengths.

Wave Swim
Ride the waves and shoot down the water slide! The wave action and water slide operate in alternating 15-minute intervals. All swimmers are required to be a minimum of 3’3” tall and a maximum of 6’2” tall to use the water slide.

*Group + Admission is limited to a maximum of five patrons. Groups must have a minimum of one adult/senior up to a maximum of two adults/seniors.

Admission fees and schedule swim times are subject to change. 10 visit passes and swim memberships are not valid for wave swims.

10 Visit Drop-In Passes
You can now purchase 10 Visit Passes online and add them to your current membership card and use them right away. Load as many 10-visit passes on to your card as you like - they will never lose value! 

Adding them to your card is easy! All you need to do is sign into ActiveRH, add the passes to your account, and purchase. Drop-in passes will automatically be added to your membership. View our tutorial for how to add passes to your account. 

Swim Membership FAQs
How do I pay for my membership?

Payment for your membership will be automatically taken from either your credit card or bank account on the 1st of each month. If your scheduled payment is rejected by your credit card or by the bank, a $45 NSF Fee will be automatically applied to your customer account.

Can I pay cash for my membership?

No, all payments must be made by credit card or by Electronic Funds Transfer (Directly from bank account).

Can I put a credit on my account with ActiveNet to use towards my monthly payments?

No, you cannot use credit from your account towards your monthly payments.

Do you still sell pay as you go admission and 10 visit drop-in passes?

Yes, pay as you go or 10 visit digital drop-in passes are available. 10 visit passes and swim memberships are not valid for wave swims.

Will my membership expire?

No, your membership will be valid until the day you cancel or if your scheduled payment is rejected by your credit card or by the bank. If your scheduled payment is rejected, you will be required to make payment and provide a new method of payment to reinstate your membership.

I am going away on vacation, can I suspend my membership?

Swim memberships will no longer be suspended. If you know you will be on vacation or will be unable to swim for a long period of time, cancel your membership before the next scheduled payment date. Once you return, you can purchase your swim membership again.

How do I cancel my membership?

Fill out a Withdrawal Request Form and submit it to the pool reception staff.

Is there a fee to cancel my membership?

No, there is no fee to cancel your membership. Once you submit your Withdrawal Request Form, your next month’s payment and all future month payments will be cancelled. Your membership will be valid until your next scheduled payment scheduled date (1st of the month).

Can I get a refund for unused time on my membership?

No, no refund will be given on memberships which were not used or cancelled.

Can I buy my membership and set up my automated payments online?

Yes, you can buy a membership and set up automated payments online at RichmondHill.ca/ActiveRH.

Can I transfer my membership to someone else?

No, your membership cannot be transferred to or shared with someone else.

  • Persons with serious medical conditions should be accompanied by an individual knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision
  • Food and beverages are not permitted on any pool deck or in change rooms
  • Men, Women and universal changerooms are available at all pools
  • Coin lockers are available at all aquatic facilities and change may be obtained from the Front Desk
  • Richmond Hill is not responsible for lost or stolen articles; we recommend that you lock up your belongings and leave valuables at home
  • All swimmers must change from street clothes into a swim suit or clean clothing used for the purpose of swimming only
  • For persons wishing to cover up, we suggest a t-shirt and leggings over your swimsuit (clothing should allow the participant to move through the water safely)
  • Patrons are welcome to watch from the viewing gallery
  • All bathers must shower before entering the pool
  • Children who are not toilet-trained must wear tight-legged, plastic pants under or over their swimsuits or a pool-pant diaper
  • Disposable diapers are not permitted in the water (plastic pants or Huggies Little Swimmers are available to purchase at the Front Desk)
  • Personal inflatable objects are not permitted in any pool
  • Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)/lifejackets are available at all locations (please ask a Lifeguard for your correct size)
  • Children wearing a lifejacket must be within arms' reach of a parent at all times
  • Only Richmond Hill staff are permitted to teach registered lessons during Recreational Swim times
  • Aquatic staff will educate patrons and enforce these and a number of other rules/guidelines to maintain as safe a swimming environment as possible
Age Restrictions

There are age restrictions for all Richmond Hill public pools to ensure the safety of our visitors. Children 10 years of age and older can swim without a parent or guardian but are recommended to always swim with a buddy. View our swim admission standards document or read below.

Swim Admission Policy for Children
Children five years old and younger:
  • Must be accompanied in the water by a parent or adult guardian at least 16 years old
  • The parent or guardian is responsible for the child's direct supervision and must be within arms-reach of the child at all times
  • Maximum two children per parent or adult guardian

Children aged six to nine:

  • Must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian at least 14 years old or 16 years old for Wave Swims
  • The parent or guardian is responsible for the child's direct supervision and must be able to give immediate assistance if needed
  • Non-swimmers must remain within arms' reach of their parent or guardian
  • Maximum four children per parent or guardian
  • During wave swims, it is recommended that parents or guardians are within arms-reach of their children at all times regardless of swimming ability
  • Must pass a Swim Test to access the deep end (excluding Wave Pool)

Children aged ten to fifteen:

  • May swim alone
  • Always recommended to swim with a buddy
  • Organized groups must meet a ratio of eight children per one guardian
Pool Closures
  • Pool fouling may result in pool closures (please encourage children to visit the washroom before entering the pool)
  • There are no refunds due to pool closures or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control
  • Free passes may be given to those who provide a receipt as proof of admission within 30 minutes after the incident
